There Is Xerox On The Inside Of Your Eyelids

July 24 – September 4, 2010
Opening Reception:
Saturday, July 24, 6-10pm

There Is Xerox On The Inside Of Your Eyelids is an exhibition exploring the realm of
1980's self-published skate zines, skate punk music graphics, and photocopied art from
a small window of time - where local skate scenes, and spots, were documented, hand
done, copied & stapled, and traded in the post. It is not only an exhibition of the aesthetics
and graphic elements of zines, but also a historical look at the true history of skateboarding
from the mouths of the skaters themselves.

Artists:
Bruce Adams, James Alder, Gabs Bee, Rob Ben, Neil Blender, J. Grant Brittain, Brian
Brannon, Rodger Bridges, Dana Bucket, Steve Caballero, Ron Cameron, Thomas Campbell,

Ramp Build

Cold Rampin'

Here's a snapshot I came across of the ramp of the ramp we built back in
Wisconsin before my move to Los Angeles - this is the spot on cold days.

Eye In the Sky

Google Mapped

My brother Matthew Skjonsberg was recently caught out there by Big Brother

Hopps Skateboards

Artist Series

They are new pro models for Jahmal Williams and Jerry Fowler - check them
out here and inquire at your local shop. Enjoy the ride and keep it moving!

Memory Screened: Molotov Skateboards

In the mix since 1989

Seb Carayol is one of the most chill people you could ever hope to meet
and besides writing one of my favorite features in Skateboarder Magazine,
he's also responsible for two of the most informative skate blogs ever.
Those being A Visual Sound and Memory Screened, for which he recently
started just out of high school. Thanks to everyone who's been down.

Mark Gonzales

Circle Board

My curiosity dragged me by the ear to Art Los Angeles Contemporary. It was
like walking around a furniture showroom or a thrift store with oddities of all
sorts. It was really entertaining and there were definitely highlights. Best skate
art was by far Mark Gonzales and his Circle Board. I came across this film by

Saul Bass

Art vs. Commerce

Saul Bass is the original. I imagine a fishing trip
where we have many conversations and observe
bears attempting to scale the tree from which our
food is suspended.

Mixtape Club

Session 007

I am a proud new member of The Mixtape Club which is one of the best
ideas to ever come out of the worldwide web as we know it. Stream the
mixes straight from the artist's studio. Check out my "Word Is..." mixer
I couldn't avoid a Bond reference as it was the 007 session...niceness.

Thoughts and Images

I've been sorting out the contents for the future zine.
The above virtual page is one from the archives that
I'll serve up as a sampler...the final publication will be
made available as time and access to the printing press
presents itself.

Volume One Magazine

Cover Art

Volume One is an arts and culture magazine that pretty much
sums up what's happening in and around the town where I
grew up on a regular basis. For the show FULL CIRCLE I was
lucky enough to be featured in subsequent issues, this one
featured a piece of mine on the cover. www.volumeone.org

Now Showing!

360°

I recently made it to my hometown of Eau Claire, WI for a
show of new works produced in the Los Angeles studio.
The show includes originals, prints and graphic works as
well as artist series skateboards and video shorts featuring
new sounds by Jeff Parker from Tortoise.

It was really nice to see so many friends and family come out
to see me at the opening. Make it if you can...the show runs
until January 5.

new views

Been keeping myself at the studio as much as possible these days.
Shifting gears to get it to those who have a vested interest, and if
you're interested let me know...new works are rollin' out as of now!

I'll never forget the first time I saw Thriller (video)...my jaw was hanging wide open.
Then Guy Mariano's part in Blind Video Days. there's no one who did it quite as big.

alive and kickin'...

meanwhile...back at the ranch

back when we were kids growing up in Wisconsin, we used to dream of places to skate
when the conditions didn't permit...now that we're all big kids making those dreams real
you might find us drawing up blueprints, contracts or painting between weekly sessions
Here's some footage of the ramp we built at Teddy's that I put together recently...enjoy!

OG Girls show

Mass Appeal vs. Art Dump

It was brought to my attention that I was a part of this show
in NY featuring some of the OG Girls...Thanks Jenks!

Hopps Skateboards

Enjoy the ride!

Imagine how stoked I was to be asked to do the Artist Series for pros Jahmal Williams
and Jerry Fowler on Brooklyn's own Hopps Skateboards! Yo...you can't help but feel it.

Show in Santa Monica

Over Time/Double Time

My show at Bolivar was extended and I ended up rotating the works. Thanks to all who
came through to check out the art and enjoy the vibe at this mellow west side gallery.

"Bond...Matthew Bond"

My brother is on an undercover operation in NYC woking as an architect for West 8
I recently got a call from him saying he was headed to KCDC in Brooklyn to pick up a
new ride and make some magic happen. I asked for proof...he sent this photograph.
